Did you know about 26 U.S. Code § 162 - Trade or business expenses?
Section 162(a) allows a deduction for all the ordinary and necessary expenses paid or incurred during the taxable year in carrying on any trade or business.
Ordinary and Necessary
Business expenditures must be both ordinary and necessary to be deductible. An ordinary expense is an expense that is normal or appropriate for the business under the circumstances. An expense is not necessarily required to be typical or repetitive in nature to be considered ordinary.
Reasonable in Amount
Ordinary and necessary business expenses are deductible only to the extent they are also reasonable in amount.
